Watching Pretty Little Liars for the First Time.

I’ve read some of the books, so I’m already coming into this with a critical eye.

I am no fan of the casting. Hanna hardly fits. Emily is nothing like she should be. Spencer is far from how she should look. Only Aria is good cast. Oh and Ali.

The acting is mediocre so far. Only Lucy Hale’s acting is good. Ashley Benson is disappointing me in this. You can tell she’s acting. Lucy is seamless.

The whole “My stuff is in like 100 boxes.” “A hundred?” “You know what I mean.” banter was so stupid. Honestly. Who says things like that? It wasn’t even amusing. The lines in general just don’t mesh as well as they should. Someone will say something just because the story needs it to be said, but it doesn’t flow with the scene, the characters, or the reactions properly.

Then Ezra going on about how Aria is “smart” after barely talking to her. She didn’t say anything that would label her as smart. I guess in Rosewood if you don’t say anything stupid right away then you’re automatically smart…

I really want to like this show because I was so thrilled when I heard two years ago that ABC picked it up.

I love all of their faces.

I want this. So much.

“Society is wrong. Dead wrong. We’re taught that exotic is beautiful. We’re taught to believe that miniature waists, and perfect tans are beautiful. We’re convinced that the blonde girls with the gorgeous smiles will win every time. But, the truth is? Originality is beautiful. Big brown eyes, green eyes, blue eyes. Curves. Your natural skin tone is beautiful. Your hair color, your smile. Your voice, your laugh, your personality. Every inch of you is beautiful, every single part of you shines with your essence. You, my dear? You’re lovely.”

This makes no sense…

“We’re taught that exotic is beautiful” then “We’re convinced that the blonde girls will win every time.”

Um. Blonde is not exotic. Those are two seperate descriptions.

Also, if originality is beautiful, then why is there a need to insult blonde, or exotic girls? Or girls with miniature waists?

If you ask me, it’s not society that’s wrong, it’s the mentality of women themselves. I see lots of campaigns and public figures who don’t fit that “skinny, blonde, tanned” description and their looked up to by thousands, if not millions.

I’ve never liked this quote, in my opinion this quote is completely contradictory, preys on the victim mentality and does no good.
